Does anyone have a Baja Designs S8 LED light bar that has the amber DRL? Or...any brand light bar that has the DRL? If so, do you have the DRL actually connected to a switch or did you tie them in to always turn on when you turn your DRL's on?

If any of you have this, can you please post a picture of night time or low light with just the DRL's on and not the actual white LED lighting?

Thanks. I am looking to see how it looks on the roof rack. Not sure if I want the light bar DRLs to be on automatically when I turn my headlight DRLs on. I like how it looks on yours having the amber lights on in the bumper... just up high may be interesting.

I have mine on a separate switch. I almost never turn it on

Ah understandable. I figured thats what would end up happening. I don't generally drive around with only my DRLs on. Just don't know how I feel about DRLs on my roof being on every time I drive at night.

I haven't installed mine on the roof rack yet, but my 20" S8 is installed in my front bumper. It might not be as noticeable with an amber lens, but mine are on in this photo with a clear lens.

The small amber backlights are connected to a switch in my SwitchPros and it's triggered to turn on when my headlights are off, I think... that, or I manually turned them on for the photo... can't quite remember. It's been a while since I've done any real driving.... haha.

When I get my bumper in...I've debated about getting a smaller LED bar for the bumper...but thats a lot of lights for up front for me. Haha. Its hard for me to justify that. But maybe one day. Once my whole setup is complete...if I have enough plasma to sell...then I will have a bunch more lights and will definitely need a switch pro!

It really is a lot of light, but if I did it again, I would get the 30" cutout just because. hahaha! You could do a light bar in the grill as well and that should cover you.

It's also doable without a Switchpros. Just a fuse block and relays. I think some hardcore, traditional overlanders go that route since it would be an easier field repair if a fuse or relay burns out. With a Swichpros, you'd have to replace the entire module if something went wrong.

Yeah my bumper has a 30" cutout (I went with Victory4x4 Blitz). I just don't think I will because I'm a brand whore...once I pick a brand I'm loyal to them (unless it is bad). And because of that...Baja Designs is NOT cheap. Lol.

Yeah I wish I got the switch pro...but at the same time I'm glad I didn't. Wiring in general is all new to me...so the stress of making sure everything is done right was extreme.

Gotcha. Yea... I'm the same way. I went Baja all the way and just took advantage of sales and better pricing from vendors. They had an up to $150 rebate during Black Friday. My front light bar was essentially 25% off when I bundled it in with the bumper on a Group Buy on TW. Also, plenty of Bajas on the used market as well.

This is my first truck and still new to all the modding. The SP made it easy and there are plenty of write ups everywhere to ease installation. I use a PowerTrays set up so everything goes to a terminal block. Pretty well organized too.

Thats what I will eventually go with...Power Trays vertical mount with the SwitchPros 9100. I didn't think about buying used. I may look into that for the bumper light bar...thanks!

vertical is one I have. I got in on the preorder when he first about to drop it. Works out pretty well, I would say!
There’s an instagram account that posts used off-road equipment in different parts of the country with plenty of people selling lights... can’t remember the accounts name but it started with the letter V, I think.

Edit: @UnAverage Joe I found the instagram account that sells aftermarket parts. VillmontMarket on IG. There are plenty of people selling lights and such and some are willing to ship.

I just finished installing the 40" S8 on the roof rack of my truck and wired the Amber running lights to a separate switch. They look nice when they are on at night. Yes, you do notice them.

You got a pic of it at night?

When I get a chance, I will take one and post it. I will try tonight, but its getting cold. Weather sucks because Im on vacation this week. LOL.

Just wire mine today. It's on Baja's harness so its on a switch, when I have more time I'll splice into the DRLs. During the day they aren't that noticeable. I'll post again tonight.

Finally had a moment to wire it up. I ended up splice the DRL into the headlights DRL light. In the video I watched he spliced into the green wire, for some reason it didn't work for me so I spliced into the pink and it worked. However I noticed in the video my pink wire is blue on his truck.

They don't turn on in the "DRL" mode but the next click that lets you use your fogs. thats fine with me because you can't really see them during the brightest hours of the day.
