This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Has anybody noticed that on the 2019s the bigger cubby in the bed on drivers side isn’t there anymore? Checked this on a couple others at the dealer
I'm new to Tacoma's but I have a 2019. I do have a cubby behind my power outlet. Are you saying there was a bigger one that was replaced with the smaller one I have?

Just thought I would ask in case a pic of my bed would help.

Will 37’s fit my Tacoma with a rough country leveling kit?

The cubby by the outlet is smaller and seems to be there on all trucks. For some unknown reason though, there was a larger one on the driver side that has been removed on the 2019 trucks. It's weird.

Does anyone else have an irritating squeaking or rattling noise coming from their dash? Specifically right by the tweeter and A pillar on the passenger side, ive noticed white build up where the plastic touches. I can only guess this is where its coming from, it really only makes noise when its cold out but once the cab warms up it quiets down and is not there in the summer. I may just put some felt in between the plastic and hope it solves the issue.

Im really irritated by small noises especially when it comes to my Taco, Just wondering if im insane or others have noticed this.

yeah a lot of people have had that happen, I haven't noticed it in a while but maybe I just haven't been looking. I remember someone saying they put a really small piece of plastic or foam and it stopped making the noise.

This has probably been beat to death but I have a lift question....

I don't plan on doing any serious off roading in the truck. Mostly daily driving and hauling 4 wheelers with possible "light" trails. But I do want to raise the truck up and put some bigger/aggressive tires on it. I also don't want the ride quality to suffer from any of it.

I have a friend that swears by Bilstein and advised the 5100s in the front and back while also adding a 1in block in the back to help keep it level. That kit says 2in lift which to me doesn't sound like much. I have read lifting much more than that would need to start upgrading other suspension parts. Which I would rather stay away from for now.

So finally to the question. Is 2in lift worth spending the money on? And are the shocks the better avenue over something like ready lift (spacers and blocks)?

I’m right where you are. I’m gonna be sure to watch the replies

I have now looked through every Suspension thread there is on the forum. Looks like a lot of people suggest the 5100s as a decent first lift. Looks like most have done upgraded springs and leafs in the back instead of a block.

Any other combo I could do with 5100s that would give me a little more than 2. Like 2.5 -2.75 since going 3 or more would require more upgrades?

Im in the same boat as you. Been doing a lot of research and i am ultimately going to do 5100s front and rear. OME coils and a headstrong add-a-leaf. Im going to put 285/70/17s Toyo's and going to add upper control arms just to be safe.

What’s up all!
I’m pretty new to the forum, like a couple of days new and I’m liking everything I’ve seen.

Anyone have any recommended methods on de-badging?

Like @lost.jake said, fishing wire. Make sure the truck is dry and it’s a warmer day. Then just use your thumb to push away the sticky. The friction and heat make it come right off
I can see how what I just said can followed by crude comments, but let’s be professional here guys. ???

Need some suggestions for tow straps. Or snatch straps. Which one is more versatile? Thanks

From what I saw at the Dallas Auto Trade Show two months ago, it looks like it is coming back to the 2020 Tacos. Hang tough! ;)

Heres my stupid question. I have a 16 DCLB with a shell (bro lean) and sliders, which is basically going to be a DD, with only mild OR and foul weather mountain winter driving. So my issue is how to deal with the incessant hunting of the transmission. I am leaning towards 4.88's, but another issue is the delayed transmission engagement when descending a grade in second, theres a stall before the trans reengages. Also it takes a lot of throttle pedal travel before the thing goes, and near whiplash when it catches. Typical complaints. I had the TSB 0058 done but it didn't do shit. Maybe if someone can comment on my options. They are:
1. Gears may work, but will that lead to other mods? Running 32" now, I run at 75 on highway if that turns out to be too low, may have to go to a larger tire. That means a lift.
2. I like the stock ride now and don't really want a stiffer ride, so would the 1" front spacer and rear AAL and/or 1.5-2" block work? If not advised Id consider the best way to level the truck with minimal lift. I run Toyo AT 265/65-17 and would not want to eventually go larger than 265/75-17, I think that is the largest number to go without a major lift. (cant go too high, wife has issues getting in and out).
3. As far as shifting issues, Im not so sure the gears would solve both issues. It may stop the hunt, but that wont help delays in shifting Im sure, so that brings up the OV tune or Ive read about this SSP kit that alters the TPS inputs to the trans control module. Can anyone with experience with these issues comment?
Thanks for any inputs.

Has anyone with a non Sport / Pro hood ever priced one? Looking for an idea on the price range.

If I remove the rubber boots from my 5100’s, will they be fine? I ask because one of them came permantly warped/twisted and it drives me insane.

Not sure if someone answered this, but I always remove the boots from shocks, often times they trap in the dirt they’re trying to keep out. Most pistons for shocks are self cleaning, and keeping the crap out to begin with helps.

Hey all,
Not sure if this is the correct thread but figured since I'm a "beginner" in off roading I was wondering if anyone has used a longer coil spring on a biltsein 6112 and what lift did you see? Thanks again

It's the tweeter cover little foam tape worked for me

Gotcha. Okay, thanks! I know you mentioned 300 lbs over stock on the ones you purchased, but what is the stock number? I intentionally went with the Pro to avoid doing much "under the body" type upgrades... but the more and more I get into this, I feel like I should have just went with a TRD OR and just did all the upgrades... again, really new at this stuff.
The box I believe will support 500lbs load max
Maybe 120-180 lbs before you notice it start to squat

Cool. Thanks! Also, do you mean 120-180 over the 500 lbs?

The box "safe load number by Toyota is around 500lbs"
The weight it takes before the rear of the car starts to sag is around 100-150 (sorry my first number seemed high hahah)
A good set of new leafs will raise the initial load , not by ANY MEANS should you carry more then what Toyota states!! But when fully loaded the rear of the truck wont look like a low rider . If your leafs are setup for 300lbs over factory then you can more stuff in you box without saging or having super bouncy ride

In this thread, there are no stupid questions. Ask whatever question you need to know about your truck, wheeling, etc. without the stress of being judged or trolled.

For those answering: Give a no-bullshit proper answer/advice to the questions. I don’t care if they’re asking why their push-to-start won’t work. Just tell them that they need their foot on the brake.

Might be a silly question, but does anyone have any good "quick fixes" for light paint scratches? As much as I'd love to do a full work over on my truck, I just don't have the time. Are there any products that you'd recommend that I can use on the individual scratches and then wash and wax really quick?

Go to you local auto parts store and they should have touch up pens , you should even be able to go to a Toyota dealer and they should have strock
But if you truck is a simple color then nail polish works

What are "winch access holes" used for on a front bumper?
