Good afternoon everyone,
I’ve considered getting wheel spacers, but I hear a lot of negative feedback from people.

What’s the deal with them?
What’s the disadvantage of using them?
Are you for or against them?
Any personal experience?

I welcome everyone’s input/suggestions!

-what's the deal with em .they widen the stance helpful when your choice of rimm doesn't come in your choice of back spacing,or when you tires run the upper control arm
-disadvantages from using. They may cause cause rubbing/more rubbing depending on which vehicle they are applied to. Many claim premature wear on the hub bearing , or premature wear on the suspension .
-for or against? Debatable depends on the vehicle as example tacomas usual will get some slight rubbing on the factory setup, even more when lifted with bigger tires
-experience . Yes shimmed my 2001 prerunner and rubbed 1.25 spacers on my 94 4runner and rubbed
2017 tacoma 33" tires and a icon lift and I can say it will run if I'd put them on
Rubbing will occur during full lock maneuvers one side more then the other . Bumps and dips on the road or trails . If bigger tires and a lift I can see a heavy load would also allow rubbing
If you want a widen stance and will not be offroad or driving "harsh" probly wont bother you to much

This is more information than I was expecting to get! Thanks for the informative response. Just to give an idea of my setup, I’ll be running kings with extended travel, along with dirt king heim UCAs, rolling on 315 70/17 KO2s with Method NVs.

How much lift are you to achieve with that setup .
If the setup is installed then crank your wheel all the way and have a look how much clearance you have at the back of the fender were your mid gaurd is , check off close you are to the front body mount . That will give you a ruff idea off the rubbing and how much worse the spacers will make it

I will make sure to look for these things once everything gets mounted. Thanks again for the info!

Additionally for safety sakes be sure to torque those look lug nuts properly and even check them frequently. Some people will use loctite to ensure they don't back out.

My setup is
-stage 4 icon extended
-285 70 r17 all terrains on atx rims appropriate back spacing yo icons spec
-mud flaps removed
- fender flare trimmed
-splash guard trimed
- body mount choped(not finished)
First pic is not full locked
Second pic is full locked
With 315 70 17 you will need alot more trimming and probly your A-pillar punch weld would need to be hammered
There will also be rubbing the front but it's not much

Idk if I’d like to make it a permanent thing with loctite. I’d definitely make sure they were torqued properly.

I know I’m gonna have to trim like crazy, I’m ok with that. I just want to have least amount of running possible. I’ll cut whatever needs to be cut.

I run spidertrax wheel spacers on stock OR wheels until i drive home in 3 weeks. It widened my stance and looks fucking good to go. I rub occasionally in full lock, but its gonna happen since i dont have a cmc yet. will get one scheduled when i drive to socal.

some poke with 1.25" spidertrax. on stock OR wheels.
