• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

New Tacoma owner

Congrats and welcome to T3G! Post up a photo when you get it. What are your plans?

No plans for anything really significant. Mostly cosmetic stuff. Eventually want to get into camping/light overlanding

Awesome! Longbed is the way to go and the Cement looks great as usual.

Yeah I actually didn't realize it was a long bed until I looked at the window sticker again when I got home. It wasn't on the truck at the stealership and I knew it was optioned the way I wanted and the right color

Are you glad it is then? Or would you have preferred the shortbed?

I am glad it is. The short bed would have been better for parking at work but the long bed will be better for everything else.

I already did my first mod, pulled the dealership stickers off the tailgate. They are crazy if they think I am going to advertise for them

Installed door handle protectors today. My last car got all scratched under the door handles from my wife's rings so now I put these on every vehicle.

Debadged the tailgate. That lonely v6 back there looked so out of place.

Had no idea these were coming in today. Just ordered them two days ago. What a difference these make. This is the way they should have come from the factory.

Radio knob looks sweet and the tailgate looks much better. Now you just need vinyl inserts for the “TACOMA” letters.

Those are next along with the Faux Pro grill

Nice truck! I just did the tailgate inserts and knock off pro grille lol. Best part of the truck so far!

Just saw this today. Truck is less than a month old ???

How did you remove the badge?

Hair dryer and some fishing line. Heat it up a little with the hair dryer and then slide the fishing line behind the badge. Make sure you pull it more towards the badge than the truck. And then just work the fishing line back and forth in a sawing motion, again favor the badge side so as not to damage the paint.
I worked it from both sides and heated it up a couple times. Key thing is to be patient and take your time.
If you heat it up really good most of the tape residue should come right off and what ever is left use a little Goo gone or alcohol. Then rewax the area.

If your truck is older and the badges have been there a while there might be a ghosting in the paint. Just use a clay bar in the area and give it a real good rub down making sure to keep the area wet. It probably won't be perfect depending on the age of the paint and how bad the ghosting is but over time it will all even out.

Hope that helps.
